Special Technical Presentation, Charles Skinner: “Fusion, the Future of Energy”

Charles Skinner is Principal Research Physicist at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, a collaborative national center for fusion energy research at Princeton University. Dr. Skinner has demonstrated innovative solutions to managing plasma-wall interactions in the extreme environment of high heat and particle fluxes in magnetic fusion devices. From studies of tritium retention issues on the original Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor, he invented and demonstrated a novel laser-based detritiation technique. Recently, he invented and demonstrated a novel electrostatic dust detector in the National Spherical Torus Experiment reactor developed at Princeton and a new laser-based method for cleaning the first mirrors for ITER, the international project to design and build an experimental fusion reactor using the tokamak concept.
