Mr. O’Connor assumed his position at Yale as Associate Provost for Science and Technology on June 1, 2009. Working with the Deputy Provost, his portfolio includes oversight of the central campus science and engineering departments, the Peabody Museum of Natural History, the Yale Institute for Biospheric Sciences, and several supporting operations. He is also the provostial liaison for the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies and the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies. Before coming to Yale, Mr. O’Connor served as the Vice Chairman and Associate Research Professor in the Department of Genetic Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University. He has research expertise in ecological and evolutionary physiology, genetics, and genomics and holds an appointment as a Research Scientist in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. Mr. O’Connor received his A.B. in biology from the University of California at Berkeley and his Ph.D. in biology from the University of Michigan.
