Niancen Miao

William (Niancen) Miao is a first year Master of Environmental Management (MEM’ 14) candidate at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, with a focus on the application of environmental performance metrics at various levels. Originally a chemical engineer from Auckland, New Zealand, he has previously worked on risk analysis of oil & gas production, waste to energy research and industrial-scale life cycle assessment.

At COP, William will explore the relationship between the international position the nations take at climate negotiations and their domestic political environments, with a particular interest in the post-Election U.S. At the same time, he will also be closely following the progress of New Zealand at the negotiations.
